Event Details

Dear LEA Members and Guests,

On behalf of the LEA Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to invite you to the LEA’s 91st Annual Educational Conference back at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, FL February 2 – 4, 2022.

As always, it will begin on Wednesday 2nd with our annual LEA golf outing at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation Florida.

On Thursday morning, the General Session includes two dynamic keynote speakers and an old favorite.  Leading off is Michael Pritula, Managing Director of QualRisk, presenting “The Changing Role of Claims Professionals in a World Where Data and Analytics is King”.   Next, we have Michael Smith SVP and Head of Global claims for Chubb presenting an Insurance Update, General Trends in Insurance Claims: Claims and claims handling trends from the perspective of a Senior Claims executive of a major insurance carrier”.  Finally, returning is the 2021 Property Law Case Update.  Bill Webster, Brandy Worden and Christina Lincoln of Robins Kaplan LLP will update you on the most interesting property insurance case decisions of 2020-2021.

All these topics should prove to be very interesting, informative and generate discussion amongst the audience.  Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we are providing a choice of three separate two-hour workshops followed by a choice of three separate one-hour sessions, all of which qualify for Continuing Education credits.

The topics for the two-hour sessions are: Understanding the Risk, Assessing the Loss and Consideration of Coverage Issues, and Business Interruption Reinstatement Claim, Wildfires and their Impact on Insurance Coverage Issues. The topics for the one hour sessions are: Offshore Wind: What Does the Future Hold?, How to Avoid the Pitfalls of Geotechnical Investigations, and a Retrospective Look at Hurricane Ida.

These presentations will provide a balanced and informative program which we hope you will find entertaining and educational.

There will be Continuing Education credits offered for various states.  No partial credit will be given, and attendees must attend the full sessions to receive CE credit for that session. There will be no exceptions.

We are extremely pleased to be returning to Ft. Lauderdale. As this will be my last meeting as LEA President, I look forward to seeing everyone again for an educational and successful meeting.

Best Regards,

Paul A. Aviles

LEA President
